Despite home advantage, it actually took 37 years and a pandemic to finally dive into the most famous lake in Carinthia. We have spent the past few years traveling to foreign continents, completely forgetting that there are a few magical pearls to discover in our own country 😍
Since it was my 37th birthday, we treated ourselves to a little luxury – we stayed at the Falkensteiner Schlosshotel in Velden. This hotel was the location of the famous Austrian television series “Ein Schloss am Wörthersee” … as a child I never missed an episode with the singer and actor Roy Black 🤣
The place Velden is very manageable and can be quickly explored on foot. We had perfect summer weather with 32 degrees and had only booked 2 nights anyway, so we didn’t even ask about activities in the area and just enjoyed the beautiful and refreshing Wörthersee. Well, there was some action after all … we tried parasailing for the first time 😊

Nothing stands in the way of a beach holiday between June and September. The high season is in July & August.
